M.N.: I think that the Soviet and Russian (post-Soviet) attempts to influence the US elections and the system of governance (just like their attempts in their own and other countries), have, very likely, a long and convoluted history; we simply do not know enough about it. The DNC emails hack and leak are the most recent and one of the most brazen attempts, a wake-up call, which demands the review of this whole subject and instituting of the stringent security and precautionary measures. The most interesting thing is that this interference will, most likely, backfire and will produce the directly opposite effect than the one that they intended.
